Yes, that’s a stepside. No, that was never a factory option. I’m still not sure what the donor bed comes from. I’m thinking an early-mid 2000s Silverado?

I think the tail lights look a bit more F-150 to me. Could be completely wrong though.

Edit - yeah I am wrong. The tails were much smaller on an F-150.

Fords had stepsides in that era.

The lights are from the Ram itself. Both Ford and Chevy had those weird, rounded, square-ish, lumpy taillights on their stepsides from that era.

The tailgate itself looks extremely Chevy to me, though. It doesn’t quite match the era of the sides of the bed, though, if that’s the case.

Yep, spot on. Going off the style of the bed, I think you are right with it being GM.

It looks like the bed of the last generation of the Dodge dakota

Those are Dodge 2002-06 tail-lights with a Chvey/GMC 1988-98 tailgate.

The bed itself is harder to figure out. Only OEMs are:
1997-2003 F150
1988-07(?) GM trucks
It’s definitely not the Tundra bed.

With the blending at the cab, I might venture to think possibly Ford.

Also, the Chevy’s of that era were plastic flares, which made them very durable but I think would be more problematic to make this one off. My brother had a 1997 z package truck with the step side.(not his truck imaged, but for reference)

But I would say Chevy tailgate. I have a feeling this is a hodgepodge of all the big three.

Tailgate is gmt400 (88-98), those boxes had fibreglass sides you could remove and then weld brand x sides on to. hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like ram box sides (hence the tail lights fit) Wish I thought of it. had to build mine from scratch.
